Humberto Moré was an Ecuadorian painter, sculptor, muralist, poet, writer and art critic.

He was born in Esmeraldas in 1929 with the name Humberto Lalot Rivadeneira Plata. He lived in different cities such as Quito, Salinas and Milagro, where he presented a series of paintings, being supported by the enterprise he worked for. Thus he started developing his artistic ability.

At the age of 20 he married Juana Chaw Cotallat with whom he had 7 children. Contemporary of Enrique Tábara, Luis Molinari and Estuardo Maldonado, they were a group of artists who began an art revival in Guayaquil in the 1950s and 60s.

Being a fan of the great French painters Monet, Manet and Renoir, he adopted the pseudonym of Moré, which he attached to his name. He died in Cuba of cancer in 1984.
