Cuenca is located in the south centre of Ecuador and it is the capital of the province of Azuay. Its Historic Centre was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. It is called “The Ecuadorian Athens” due to its beautiful architecture and cultural diversity.

In the Historic Centre of Cuenca you can find architecture from the 16th and 17th century. Churches, museums and cathedrals are part of this beautiful place that has a great Spanish and European influence in its decoration.

One the most visited places are the cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, which is the biggest in Latin America; the Bank Central Museum; the Remigio Crespo Toral‘s Museum and the Tomebamba River that goes through the city. This city has many different places to explore, and each one is just unique.
